SPECIFICATION FOR EAMLESS COPPER NICKEL PIPE AND TUBE

1.Scope

1.1 This specification covers seamless copper=nickel alloy pipe and tube in straight lenghts suitable for general engineering purposes.

The following three alloys are covered:

NOTE 1 ? The UNS systerm for copper and copper alloys (see Recommended Practic E 527) is a simple expansion of the
fomer standard designation system assomplished by the addition of a prefix "C" and a surfix "00." The surfix can be usd to assommmodate compositio variations of the base alloy.

New designation established in accordance with practice E 527.
When the product is for subsequent welding applications, and so specified by the purchaser,
zinc shall be 0.50% max, lead 0.02% max, and carbon 0.05% max.

Rockwell hardness values shall apply only to tube or pipe having a wall thickness of 0.020 in. or over and an outside diameter of 5/16in. or over.

For all other tube no Rockwell fardness values shall apply. rockwell fardness tests shall be made on the inside surface of the tube. When suitable equipment is not available for determing the specified Rockwell gardness other Rockwell scales and values may be specified subject to agreement between the anufacturer and the purchaser.

Dalthough no minimum grain size is specified, the product must neverthless have afully recrystallized frain structure.

When tue is ordered by outside and inside diameters, the maximum plus and minus deviation or the wall thickness forom the nominal at any point shall not exceed the values given in this table by more than 50%. BPercent of the specified wall thickness expressed to the nearest 0.001 in.

The average outside or inside diameter of a tube is the average of the maximum and minimum outside diameter, or ofthe maximum and minimum inside diameters, whichever is applicable, as determined at any one cross section of the tube. BIf tolerances all plus or all minus are desired, double the values given.
